Why I Became a Jungian Coach — And What This Work Actually Looks Like

Aimi Colibrí, Jungian coach, smiling outdoors among trees

Being a Jungian coach has been one of the greatest honors and joys of my life to date.

I didn't arrive here through a straight line. I came the long way around — through grief, through searching, through years of doing all the right things and still arriving back at the same inner weather. I became a Jungian coach because I know this terrain intimately. I've been lost in it. And I've found my way forward, again and again.

But the best way I can tell you what this work actually is — is to show you what I get to do in it.

  • ✦ I get to watch someone drop out of their head and into their chest — and find something there that no amount of thinking could have reached.
  • ✦ I get to help people discover that the body has been speaking all along. That the tightness in the throat, the hollowness in the chest, the breath that's been held for years — these are not symptoms to manage but messages waiting to be heard.
  • ✦ I get to help others see that the parts of themselves they've been fighting were never the enemy. That the inner critic, the protector, the voice that says *you're not enough* — these were doing the only job they knew how to do. And that understanding changes everything.
  • ✦ I get to witness the moment someone gives themselves permission — often for the first time — to want what they've always wanted.
  • ✦ I get to help people see how the wounds of childhood don't just stay in the past. They travel forward, quietly shaping who we choose, how we love, and what we believe is possible for us. And I get to be there when that pattern becomes visible — when someone sees it clearly for the first time and realizes they can begin to choose differently.
  • ✦ I get to support others in reaching toward younger versions of themselves — the parts that were forgotten, dismissed, or told to be quiet — and begin to tend to that relationship with their own hands.
  • ✦ I get to help people bridge the gap between understanding themselves and actually inhabiting themselves. Because insight alone doesn't change anything. The body has to know it too.
  • ✦ I get to work with dreams, images, and symbols as living things — not puzzles to be solved but invitations from the unconscious toward greater wholeness.
  • ✦ I get to reflect back what clients are too close to see: the energy patterns, the recurring themes, the voice that sounds like their own but isn't quite.
  • ✦ I get to hear someone say *I was able to stay with the feeling longer this time.*
  • ✦ And perhaps most of all — I get to offer something simple and rare. A space where someone can bring their full complexity, their contradictions, their shadow — and experience that none of it makes me, their coach, want to leave.
  • ✦ I get to sit with people who have been holding their breath for a very long time. And help them discover it might finally be safe to exhale.
A lit candle inside a dark, iridescent alchemical vessel

In alchemy, the vas hermeticum was the sealed vessel where base matter became gold. I think of the coaching relationship that way — a held space where what feels stuck or broken begins, slowly, to transform.

This is the work. And it matters more than I can say.

If you've ever felt like you're doing everything right and still ending up in the same place — if something in you is quietly asking to be heard — this work might be for you.

The first step is simply a conversation. A free 30-minute Threshold Call where we meet, talk, and sense together whether this is the right fit. Most people leave with something they didn't have before — whether or not we decide to work together.
